Mersea Island is over the Strood at high water; Abberton Reservoir is inland of that, still a long way from Thurrock.

West Mersea, East Mersea, Tiptree, Kelvedon, Feering, Fingringhoe, Rowhedge, Peldon, Salcott, Layer Marney, Messing and Abberton make a wide map.
The Strood floods. If you are on the island, say so, and whether the causeway is open.
Tiptree jam-traffic and a reservoir visitor bay are different days. This is far from Grays either way.
